FRI 21ST: Art in the Dark
FRI 21ST: Art in the Dark
Proceeds will be donated to MASH (Manchester Action on Street Health).
Art in the Dark is your chance to see a small mural installation commissioned by Skyliner as part of the Manchester International Festival tour: Public Art and Spatial Freedom. We're opening up the mural space for those who missed out on the full tour (now sold out).
The piece demonstrates a less traditional way to experience urban art; in the dark. It also offers up an alternative symbol for Manchester as the bee is a complex symbol; demonstrative of working-class oppression and, in recent years, heavily co-opted by corporations.
ACCESS: This is in a small dark space. Torches will be provided. The surface is flat, and there will be a soundscape. If you’d prefer a sound-free experience please let me know upon arrival, or by email. Only 6 people permitted into the space at a time.
Family-friendly (provided the dark isn’t an issue), and no explicit content. Children go free and no need to book a space for them (this does not apply if there are more than two children per family so please message me if you have a larger group. There are also opportunities exclusively for school children over summer, see booking page for details)
The space is small so viewings are fairly brief, just five minutes per group. There is a small fee of £2 which will will be donated to MASH, a long-standing Mancunian charity that cares for the city’s sex workers around the clock.
Please allow for a wait of up to 20 minutes if others are ahead of you.
The meeting point is along Oxford Road, close to All Saints, the exact meeting point will be sent to you by text/whatsapp on the day with a few hours notice so please have your phone on. You will be contacted from this number: 07517111305
